BREAKING NEWS! Thank you to everyone who contacted their representatives to request they pass the Water Resources Development Act. Congress has authorized the EAA Southern Storage Reservoir! The passing of this act authorizes the southern storage reservoir, mandates expedited Lake Okeechobee Regulation Schedule (LORS) review, funds development of large-scale water filtration technology, and directs the Federal Government to provide technical assistance to states. Authorizing this much needed storage as part of the Central Everglades Project (CEP) allows us to reduce polluted discharges to Florida’s coastal communities by over 50% while increasing critical freshwater flow to the Florida Keys. This is a great and necessary step to improving the water quality in Southwest Florida.
